In a heartwarming display of compassion and dedication, a Cebu-based couple has brought home 12 rescued dogs from Kuwait, giving them a second chance at a loving life in Sibonga, Cebu. Donnabelle Lee and Jeffrey Luage, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), embarked on this incredible journey to rescue these vulnerable animals, who were originally abandoned as puppies.

The story began with a desperate plea for help reaching Donnabelle and Jeffrey. They learned about a group of abandoned puppies struggling to survive in Kuwait, facing harsh conditions and uncertain futures. Moved by their plight, the couple decided to take action, despite the significant challenges and expenses involved in animal rescue and repatriation.

“It was heartbreaking to see these little ones alone and vulnerable,” shared Donnabelle. “We knew we had to do something to help them.”

The process of rescuing and bringing the dogs home was a complex one, requiring extensive paperwork, veterinary clearances, and international travel arrangements. Jeffrey and Donnabelle worked tirelessly, navigating bureaucratic hurdles and ensuring the dogs’ well-being every step of the way. They collaborated with animal welfare organizations in Kuwait to safely secure the dogs and prepare them for their journey to Cebu.

Upon arrival in Sibonga, Cebu, the 12 dogs – a mix of breeds and sizes – were immediately taken to a safe and comfortable environment. The couple has also been working to socialize the dogs, helping them adjust to their new surroundings and build trust with humans after experiencing abandonment.

“We are so grateful to be able to provide these dogs with a loving home and a chance to experience the joy of companionship,” said Jeffrey. “It’s a challenging but incredibly rewarding experience.”
