Rubio Dismisses Trump Health Concerns as 'Absurd'
Republican Senator Marco Rubio has dismissed concerns about US President Donald Trump's health as “absurd and ridiculous,” following recent scrutiny of the president's public appearances.
The renewed focus on Trump's wellbeing comes after videos surfaced showing the president seemingly falling asleep during public events. These videos have been reportedly shown to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, sparking further discussion about the president’s mental acuity.
Rubio’s comments, made during a recent interview, directly addressed the speculation surrounding Trump’s health. He characterised the concerns as baseless and lacking in merit, asserting that they were an overreaction to normal occurrences.
The debate around Trump’s health has resurfaced periodically throughout his presidency, often fueled by observations of his behaviour during rallies and official engagements. While the White House has consistently maintained that the president is in good health, the recent videos have reignited the conversation.
Secretary of State Blinken’s reported viewing of the videos adds another layer to the story, indicating that the issue has reached the highest levels of the US government. However, no official statement has been released by the State Department regarding the matter. The president's health is a frequent topic of discussion, particularly given his age and the demands of the office.
